BUILDING TYPE: MEDIUM RISE MULTI RESIDENTIAL

MATERIALS: TIMBER, CLT, STEEL, FIBRE CEMENT CLADDING

'The Urban Forest' is designed to accommodate for all age demographics with the focal point being on social connectivity through the utilisation of the rich historic and cultural precinct of Bowen Hills. To work towards the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, this design is socially, environmentally and economically sustainable in order to improve the quality of life for future generations

THE BUILDING FORM WAS CREATED THROUGH EXTENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE SITE

THE SITE IS IDEAL FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGE AS THERE IS MULTIPLE PUBLIC/PRIVATE TRANSPORT OPTIONS AVAILABLE

IT IS ALSO LOCATED NEAR SEVERAL  IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS S INCLUDING BOTH MEDICAL AND COMMERCIAL

THESE FUNCTIONS ARE IMPORTANT AS IT IMPROVES THE USERS QUALITY OF LIVING THROUGH ITS CONVENIENCE

THE BUILDING  CIRCULATION ENABLES USERS TO CIRCULATE AROUND THE CORE

IT IS DESIGNED TO OPTIMISE THE FLOR OF THE PEOPLE WHILST CREATING A CONTRAST BETWEEN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

AND NATURE THROUGH THE USE OF BAMBOO

FURTHERMORE, MULTIPLE SUSTAINABLE STRATAGIES HAVE BEEN APLLIED TO REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF THE BUILDING

 

FOR EXAMPLE, TYPICAL FLOOR PLAN 1 CONSISTS OF STUDIOS AND 1 BEDROOM APARTMENTS

WHICH CREATES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE USERS TO UTILISE THE COMMUNAL LAUNDRY PROVIDED 

THE GREY WATER IS THEN REUSED FOR VEGETATION PURPOSES
